So God says it is ok to be filled with hate? Unlikely…

So this piece may be offensive to some.  The point here is not to offend.  It is simply to call out facts and understand where certain ideologies come from.

You have got to take a look at this…

Where do the ideologies come from? Where do we learn to objectify women and worship (straight) men? Where are do the gender roles even come from? There are many different views on this topic.  There is the whole nature conversation “well girls are born to nurture…it’s in their DNA” and some of this is a very valid point. But that doesn’t exactly add up to the extremes we are faced with today.

If you really take a few steps back and take a look at what does it all boil down to, you cannot deny the fact that it all points to religion.  Religions are essentially stories passed on through time.  Remember the game of telephone? Now add in power hungry men desperate to maintain control throughout history and you have a recipe for a small (please read small with sever sarcasm) opportunity for a few white lies.

Let’s examine how women and homosexuals are portrayed in some major religions.

“I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent.” (Timothy 2:12)

“Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord.” (Ephesians 5:22)

“And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire.” (Leviticus 21:9)

“Men are the maintainers of women because Allah has made some of them to excel others and because they spend out of their property; the good women are therefore obedient, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded; and (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in the sleeping-places and beat them; then if they obey you, do not seek a way against them; surely Allah is High, Great.” Qur’an 4:34

And what about homosexuality?

“In the same way also the men, giving up natural intercourse with women, were consumed with passion for one another. Men committed shameless acts with men and received in their own persons the due penalty for their error.” (Romans 1:27)

“If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.” Leviticus 20:13

The quotes speak for themselves.  What is my point for bringing all this up? It is simply to challenge what society has said is normal.  Let’s think differently about how we approach the topic.
